Founder
VWC is a philanthropic organisation founded by Chelsea Butawo in 2019, born from a deep desire to transform the lives of children living in poverty across Africa.Our mission is simple yet powerful — to alleviate child poverty by providing the essential tools, education, and skills children need to create a better future for themselves and their communities.VWC was not created to seek recognition or prove a point — it was a calling that was answered.In 2008, Chelsea witnessed first-hand the profound impact that organisations like UNICEF made in a small village called Wedza. That experience opened her eyes to the gaps that still existed — the urgent need for sustained support, access to education, and empowerment for children to truly thrive.At VWC, we believe in a hands-on, community-driven approach.Our goal is not to visit communities, take pictures, and leave behind a few supplies — but to build lasting change. Our Mission
To relieve poverty and improve the quality of life for children in developing countries by raising awareness, delivering aid, and supporting access to essential services such as education, clean water, healthcare, and nutrition.
EDUCATION
Many underprivileged children face daily struggles in affording school fees, books, and other basic resources — challenges that prevent them from developing the essential skills needed to pursue a career and break the cycle of poverty. Too often, they are forced to abandon their education to work and help their families put food on the table.
Through our collaboration with local schools, VWC is determined to change that narrative. We work to ensure that children facing such hardships receive the support they need to stay in school, continue learning, and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
MENTORSHIP
Mentoring young minds and guiding them toward a brighter future lies at the heart of our mission.
At VWC, we believe that every child deserves someone to believe in them — someone to walk beside them, nurture their potential, and remind them that their dreams are within reach.
Through our buddy system, we connect children with dedicated mentors and volunteers — compassionate individuals who share their time, wisdom, and experience to help these young minds grow in confidence and purpose. Together with our trusted partners, we provide ongoing emotional and developmental support, ensuring that no child ever feels alone in their journey.

For many underprivileged children, a warm meal or a clean outfit can mean the difference between merely surviving and truly thriving.
At VWC, we organise food banks, soup kitchens, and clothing drives with the local communities to ensure that every child we reach is well-nourished, cared for, and able to live with a sense of comfort and self-worth. These simple acts of kindness go a long way in restoring hope and stability to young lives burdened by poverty.

Bringing Change
VolunteerWithChels is a non for profit organisation. We work on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of children across the globe, and are very proud of the little that we able to do just to make a change. Through fundraisers for charities working across the globe and signing petitions for different causes we hope to raise awareness to the different struggles that conflicts and natural disasters bring to children living in the affected areas.
